We are pleased to announce that construction works are well under way with the conversion of the former Bartlet Convalescent Hospital. The first phase flats are now being occupied, with remaining purchasers due to move in over the next few months.
This site comprises the former Bartlet Hospital, which is Grade II* listed and situated within the Conservation Area of Felixstowe. The original hospital building sits on top of a former Martello tower and its walled moat and it is this that primarily gives the building its Grade II* listing status and its exceptional historic and architectural interest.
The site lies on an elevated site to the north side of Undercliff Road East and benefits from commanding sea views. Planning and listed building consents have recently been granted, with the assistance of Bullworthy Shallish LLP, to convert the building into a total of 33 residential apartments and as part of a redevelopment the approval allows for the erection of 3 new dwellings within the grounds. It also includes for the part demolition, conversion and extension of the existing Annexe building (formed of the remnants of the former Bath Hotel) into further residential units.
