Old School Site, Melton

This exciting project secured permission for the redevelopment of a brown field site within the defined settlement boundary of Melton and the designated Conservation Area. It consists of two converted 19th century former school buildings as well as a total of five new timber framed dwellings. It was quickly confirmed that the two former school buildings were going to be regarded as ‘non-designated heritage assets’ by the local authority planning department, and as such meant that careful consideration was given in order to ensure that certain specific architectural details were carefully retained and preserved within these two buildings.

The new housing is in a form that resonates with its earlier industrial past, whilst preserving the character and appearance of the Conservation Area and without compromising residential amenity or highway safety.
